Ledderehose disease causes firm nodules in the sole of the foot, which can make walking painful and limit daily activities. Radiotherapy can slow or stop the growth of these nodules, helping to reduce pain and preserve mobility.
Dr Nixon is an award winning senior oncologist based in Glasgow, UK, with over 20 years of experience in the treatment of cancer. She works in the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Center, one of the biggest centers of excellence in cancer care in Europe, where she has a busy NHS practice looking after patients with prostate cancer, bladder cancer. She also specialising in radiotherapy for renal cancer in the metastatic setting, and in radiotherapy for benign conditions such as Ledderhose Disease and Dupuytren’s Disease.
She is the recipient of the prestigious Scottish Women’s Award for her services in cancer care in 2023, and works with patients, carers and charities towards best, expert, and holistic cancer care.
In recognition of her exemplary work to improve care for cancer patients she was honoured with a founding FMLM Fellowship. Dr Nixon has led service improvement work that was nominated for the highly prestigious National British Medical Journal (BMJ) Award 2020, and her team were finalists under Cancer Team of the Year.
